Despina Konstantinides began working with oil paints at 9 years old and has been painting for the past twenty years. She graduated from Trinity College, Phi Beta Kappa, with honors in Philosophy. Her honors thesis focused on Heidegger’s Metaphysics. At Trinity she studied with Joseph Byrne. During her undergraduate study she participated in 3 semesters abroad studying art. She spent a summer semester in Venice with Pratt University where she studied closely with the painter/thinker Richards Ruben. The following fall she studied at Trinity’s Rome campus and spent the next summer at the Burren College of Art in Ireland. She went on to earn her MFA in painting from Indiana University where she studied with Bonnie Sklarski and her current mentor, Barry Gealt. During graduate school she spent a summer semester in Florence, Italy. She recently was a resident at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. Her work is in both private and corporate collections. Currently, Despina lives and works in NYC.
