About Gerald Marcus:
Gerald Marcus has painted landscapes in the United States, Europe and New Mexico. He works outdoors from observation, making quick color sketches in oil or watercolor. The oils are then left as sketches, or worked up later into more finished paintings. Larger canvases are done in the studio but retain the quality of spontaneous outdoor paintings. Marcus is a printmaker as well as a painter, working mainly with intaglio. He maintains a studio in New York City and the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York State.
Marcus has shown his work in many one-man and group shows in New York City and internationally including,The National Academy of Design, The National Print Center New York, The Hollar Society, Prague, The Lancaster Museum,The Haggin Museum,The The City University of New York, Purdue University,Long Island University, Wright State University, and The Trenton City Museum. His work is in many public and private collections.
Marcus studied at the Art Students League of New York with Jean Liberte, Julian Levy, Sol Wilson and Jacob Lawrence. He graduated Cum Laude with a major in art from The City College of The City Univerity of New York.
